Cheryl graduated from the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore in 1995 with an Honours Degree. Thereafter she was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1996.
Cheryl has broad experience in litigation and arbitration work for civil and commercial disputes. She has acted in partnership disputes, contract, negligence, agency, economic torts and conspiracy claims, tenancy claims, family law matters, defamation claims, trademark opposition, winding up and other contentious matters.
She has acted in constructions matters representing developers, architects, contractors and subcontractors and subsidiary proprietors for claims for payment, calls on performance bonds, injunctions, claims involving liquidated damages, architects’ certificates and landlord and tenant claims and distress. Projects she has advised in include condominiums, buildings, semi-submersible construction, schools, HDB contracts, and subcontracts for Biopolis and Marina Bay. She has advised also on land encroachment and STB disputes.
She has also advised on financial products and claims relating to misrepresentation, negligence and MAS guidelines and the Financial Advisers Act.
She is a mediation advocate, with her former firm placed on the Singapore Mediation Centre’s Power List for some years.
